Making Espresso
" 'Would you like some espresso?' she asked. She handed him a cup from the espresso machine in the canteen." Chapter 2 (page 48 in my book)
There are 2 well-known ways of making espresso;
-With a machine
-On the stove
-With a machine
-On the stove
Making Espresso With A Machine:
1. Get a machine (most of them are similar to the one in the picture)
2. Ingredients needed:
Purified water
Espresso beans
3. Grind the beans.
It's actually better to use a non-electric grinder or you can just buy ground beans from the retailer
4. Add the water to the designated compartment
5. Remove the "porta-filter" (the handle with the cup at the end of it)
Twist it the designated direction (differs with machines) and it should pop right off
6. Pack the espresso power/ground beans into the cup end of porta-filter
It's normally 1 tablespoon per shot
7. Replace porta-filter, place cup/pot under porta-filter and turn machine on.
Some machines require you to turn it off when cup/pot is full and others have a set brewing cycle.
8. Serve and Enjoy

Making Espresso on Stove Top
1. Obtain a "Moka Pot" (most of them look like the one in the picture)
2. Unscrew the bottom and fill it with COLD water but DO NOT fill it past the steam valve.
3. Put the filter basket on top
4. Fill the basket with ground espresso to the top and smooth it out
This doesn't have to be measured as you will be measuring how much you want when you pour it into your cup
5. Screw the top back on, place pot on stove and set burner to Medium or High
6. Keep the lid on, after a few minutes the espresso will be pouring out from the center of the pot.
7. When you stop hearing the pouring noises, lift the lid to check to see if anymore espresso is coming from the center part.
8. Replace the lid and pour desired amount into cup of your choice
