"The rules for social interaction in school had always baffled her. She minded her own business and did not interfere with what anyone around her did. Yet there was always someone who absolutely would not leave her in peace." (250)
Chapter 9 goes into some detail about Lisbeth's past and her experience in public schools. She was always in trouble, fighting with someone wherever she went. It didn't matter if it was a boy or a girl, she would fight them anyway. Is there any explanation for Lisbeth's behavior? Could it be an unconscious desire coming out in the form of fighting? Or perhaps a repressed memory that she doesn't know how to deal with. It could just be her way of showing that she's not afraid of people. She later goes on to say that she needs advice and has no idea who to turn to, presumably because she doesn't trust anyone. This gives me a stronger reason to believe there is something disturbing in her unconscious and she simply deals with it in a negative way.
