"Taking away a person’s control of her own life—meaning her bank account—is one of the greatest infringements a democracy can impose, especially when it applies to a young person." (Pg. 246)
I know from experience being a young person in todays society you are automatically looked down upon especially in a court system. Lisbeth Salander is a young edgy looking girl with short hair, pierced eyebrows and nose, tattoo on her neck, around her bicep and her ankle. Because of the way she looks the court instantly puts someone above her in control of her. Without even giving her the chance to prove what she can do the court shuts her down. I see this in our lives every day. If you are not dressed up in a business suit with a clean shaved face or a nice hair cut and some classy make up on you will not even be looked at for a quality paying job. For example if I were to walk into an investment firm asking for a job and I was wearing shorts and a t shirt, they wouldn't even give me the time of day. What they don't know is I could be a very smart with investments and could bring a lot to the table but the fact that they didn't want anything to do with me just because I was young and not dressed up they could have lost out on one of the greatest assets to their business. I think this is such an important quote to talk about and think about because it doesn't just happen in the book. I happens every where every day and there is no hiding it.
